Following considerable consultation with the wind farm operators and industry in general, Global Marine Design produced the Marine Kit for the “Dalby Aire”, the first of our full DNV class vessels constructed by Alicat Workboats for Dalby Offshore.
The hull builds upon the success of the well proven GMD WFSV fleet and measures 22.4m in length by 7.4m in beam. The generous dimensions give a total working deck area of approx. 95m² for cargo and the 12 special personnel ride in comfort within the full isolated, resiliently mounted superstructure.

The owners commented “a good sea going vessel and multi-talented vessel”. Sisterships configured for Oil and Gas applications.
This configuration can carry 25 passengers in comfort and has an on-deck cargo capacity of 10t with a 2.5t crane. Powered by twin Cat C32 (1115hp) engines, the cruise speed is 21 knots with sprint of 26 knots. Bow Thruster assisted docking.

The “Element” is a refinement of the highly successful GMD 21m catamaran hull, with a reduced bow rake, more bow volume and finer waterline entry.
To date, this vessel is possibly the very best all round catamaran developed by the GMD design team.
A reasonable time frame from order to delivery gave GMD as the designers, time to optimize what was already a successful catamaran hull shape, initially developed for the 19m vessel “Sea Stryder” and carried over to the whole range of Wind Farm Service Vessels (WFSV’s) built by Alicat Workboats in the UK.

This vessel has proven to be the most favoured of all the Windfarm Service Vessels.
High Tunnel clearance limits slap and provides a very dry and smooth ride in heavy sea states (designed 4mtr seas). The hull also designed with keel foils and twin semi tunnel propeller arrangement.
The vessel can accelerate from stand still to 30 knots in 10 seconds and cruise comfortably at 22 knots burning 220ltrs /hr. with endurance of 600nm+.
Powered by twin Cat C32 (1320hp) which at 1650rpm, the vessel sat comfortably at 26 to 27kts with just 72% engine load in moderate seas.
